In Mai 2000, the Saarmobil Car Sharing GmbH, a 100% subsidiary company in Saarbrücken, was the first 'customer' for the system provider cambio Mobilitätsservice GmbH & Co KG.
For the first time a CarSharing company could dispose of the entire technical, administrative and publicity CarSharing know-how accumulated in cambio in order to concentrate itself on the local growth.
Moreover cambio Saarbrücken uses the whole range of central services: reservation and billing service, customer administration, book-keeping, fleet-management and marketing.
The modular structure of these central services allows customer relationships of different intensity. That way in July 2000 another CarSharing company "StadtTeilAuto Hagen" was gained as the first external customer for the new cambio reservation service. CarSharing providers from Münster, Kiel and Lübeck followed.
Also the Belgian 'Optimobil bvba' proved the ubiquitous applicability of the cambio system right from the start in May 2003 - today cambio Belgium provides cars in eight Belgian cities.
Existing CarSharing companies are addressed as potential customers as well as urban administrations and public transport companies that want to install a CarSharing service in their city.
